“History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.” —by Mark Twain. So true when you compare 1927/8/9 and 2005/6/7/8.

Nomunication - a bilingual coinage

Japanese; nomunication (from nomu = drinking & engl. communication).

So when you go out for a drink with a business partner or enjoying the after-party of a conference (business purpose only). You can use (twitter) ‘I am nomunicating …’, ‘Had a great nomunication time …’.

I couldn’t find it on urbandictionary.com (but on NYTimes) and I hope the twitter/tumblr community will spread it.

Germany - Der Sozialstaat.

The top 10% (income) of Germans citizens own 60% of all assets in Germany, while 6,8 mio (of ~82 mio citizens = ~6%) make a living of Hartz IV.

Heute besitzen die obersten zehn Prozent der Deutschen rund 60 Prozent aller Vermögenswerte, während 6,8 Millionen Menschen Hartz IV beziehen.

My fellow European citizens.

Not every [future] problem originates from America and has to be solved by America alone.

Fixing 'failed' capitalism

We tend to forget about the bad stuff and remind ourself only about the good stuff. It is should be a part and a task of democracy to remind us about both - so we do not slip back into an economic stoneage (socialism / communism) while trying to fix ‘failed’ capitalism.

Have heard this somewhere ...

I only have one last thing to do, that my story has a start and an end. I have to marry you.

German pink letter ...

I was fortunate enought to read a pink letter from a friend of mine here in Germany;

“…sehr zufrieden mit Ihrer Arbeit und Ihrem Einsatz….”
“….müssen jedoch das Arbeitsverhältniss aufgrund der angespannten Wirtschaftslage beenden.”

After reading the last 3 words a loud laugh slipped out of me. It was a ironic one I explained my friend. I study Economics and read (and write about it) discussions about how long this ‘monsters breath’ will last. Without any attachments. And here I have now a personal case right infront of me.

Will be going to 'Trabant Treffen 09' Yay!

Here.

It is organised unlike the past events by the ADAC. Here is the Wikipedia article to give you a glimpse about the ‘cultural factor’ of former East Germany.
